This evening one patch of rain passed over. It was heavy, big drops and passed over fairly quickly. Then the storm came. The wind was whipping the trees in the circles, the rain came down at a horizontal streaks slamming into the sides of the buildings. The hail came next blanketing the entire lawn with white, marble sized ice balls. And in the midst of the storm and heavy rain, a train came through town. Whew, it was a real train.

First Round of Hail |
After the hail was more rain. It was easy to see how a flash flood could occur. The parking lanes on the side of the road were almost level with water. It was raining so heavy that the camera could not take a clear picture.

Fast Rising Water |
As the rain was slowing down, we decided to take a look at the garden. The zucchini plants are beaten up pretty bad. A couple of tomato plants were tipped over. The cucumbers were badly beaten up. The vines from the acorn squash and buttercup squash were rolled over. We could not tell if they were wind whipped or broken. Then we drove out of town and saw a corn field just out of town. The wind and hail stripped all the leaves off the corn. Looking at it was a mind boggling. It took a while to understand the damage that had been done. The stalks were standing straight up but were stripped out.

After arriving home, I took a couple pictures of the hail. It had been quite a while since we left and the hail was still marble sized and there were still large piles of hail up close to the house.

More Hail |
I nearly had a heart attack when we drove by my place and I saw all these pocks in the siding. This section of the house is only about two years old. I was not ready to deal with having it replaced. I didn't need to worry about that because as we looked closely, it was leaf particles plastered onto the siding. It washed off with the water hose just fine.

Hail Damage? |
I so wished that I would have gone by my place and picked up my good camera before going for a ride. Because as we looked to the East, there was a full end to end brilliantly bright double rainbow. The cell phone camera showed more a green tint looking at the North end of the rainbow. The green wasn't visible to the eye.

North Side of the Rainbow |
The South end of the rainbow was more what it looked like to me. It was blue and bright, the inner rainbow crystal clear with every color and all the way around a shadow rainbow with clear colors for all of the colors even though they are dimmed.

South Side of the Rainbow |
After the storm was over, the clouds that worked their way over were absolutely gorgeous. It reminded me of a painting of clouds with the softness. It reminded Dale of some strange cotton balls.
