The Miracle Cure!

Sorry I didn't write yesterday but it was one of those terribly awful days.  I was down with a short flu bug.  I hadn't been feeling 100% since Thanksgiving day.  I slept for about 40 of 48 hours from Saturday night to Monday morning.  Between that and Mom's miracle cure of Ginger ale and saltine crackers I am back to feeling well.

In case you have not heard of that miracle cure, you sip on room temperature ginger ale and nibble on saltine crackers.  I would bet that my mother had not heard of the healthy properties of ginger in the digestive system.  The soda crackers fit into that category of white, plain or bland food.  It is a food that will help in settling an upset stomach.

Ginger ale is a carbonated soft drink flavored with ginger in one of two ways. The golden style is closer to the ginger beer original, and is credited to the American doctor Thomas Cantrell. The dry style (also called the pale style) is a paler drink with a much milder ginger-flavor to it, and was created by Canadian John McLaughlin.

I wish they sold ginger ail in 20 oz bottles.  I have only been able to find it in a 2-liter bottle.  And I only use about a third of a bottle.  Then the rest goes to waste because I have something about buying diet ginger ale and regular ginger ale has too much sugar for me to drink under normal conditions.

I hope you are all feeling well.  If  you end up with a case of the flu, give yourself permission to sleep it off and in between naps sip your ginger ale and nibble on saltine crackers.
