Processed Beans |
Process the beans by soaking them overnight and cooking in a crock pot overnight. You need a lot of water because they will be soak up the water!

Adding flavor |
I didn't add more than one teaspoon of the spices. Even at that the ground cumin was a little bit heavy. The Mrs. Dash's Extra Spicy is a safe spice for me as there are no bell peppers. So many of the non-salt spices add bell peppers for extra flavor.

Spices added |
A food processor would have worked nice. I almost pulled out my blender but the mixer was closer and easier. It worked okay an if they would have still be warm it would have been even better. I didn't have time when they finished cooking to process them so I put them in the refrigerator.

Beat together adding cream cheese |
I had some burrito shells in the refrigerator. I filled one with flavored beans and added some more cheese. Then I folded the burrito in half.

Filling a burrito |
I was recently given a George Forman grill. So I put it in there to warm it up. I guess I put too much bean in because it squished out the top. But that was okay. It lifted right off the non-stick surface.

Warming in a George Forman grill |
It was a very filling meal that was high in protein and fiber. I should have probably added lettuce to it for a salad. But no one is perfect. I think next time I will sauté onions and garlic to add into the beans instead of the cumin. I need to keep trying various seasonings for the refried beans. I like what I made but there are so many options out there.
