The other half of the story was revealed this evening. I had fed the adult cats before feeding the larger animals. When I went inside the back of the barn, I could hear kittens crying. ...was it coming from the stack of bales? ...was it from the hay loft? ...was it coming from the wall?!?

Knocked a hole in the wall trying to find the noise |
Our best guess is that the mother went into that section of the hay loft through a hole in the roof. The kittens at some point fell down about a 15 foot block wall. The mother the day before was trying to get my attention but her crying covered the cries of her kittens.

My baby! I missed you! |
Luckily the block was loose and my nephew Nickolai was able to pull it out and free the kittens. Mama cat was so happy to have her kittens back.

Kittens feeding after days without mama |
We weren't sure how many days that the kittens had been trapped in the wall. We also aren't sure if they dropped a little at a time or all at once. Hopefully she doesn't move them again. We want to monitor them to make sure that they are okay.
