The new view for the garden. This spring, I knew that the fence was going up. And I decided the corner of the house by the gate would be a perfect spot for some height in the garden. I planted a small row of giant sunflowers. I can't wait to see how big the heads will get. At this point they are about 5-6 inches in diameter. I guess the giant is because the plants are between seven and ten feet tall. I love black-eyed suzies because they look like miniature sunflowers especially on a cooler, rainy day. The next pop of color developing will be the sedum joy. You can see the light pink now that will turn to a dark burgundy that will show off the darker sunflowers at the corner of my house.

Sunflowers and Black-eyed Suzies |
My back row of zinnias is supposed to be the larger zinnias. I was thinking that they would be a little bit taller, but they are the bigger flower head with a looser textured head. Because the bachelor buttons were towering over them, it took them a bit longer to blossom. Hmmm maybe that is why they didn't reach their full height?
