We lived on "college hill". The name that old times called my neighborhood. It was the top of the hill on the North end of town. In the early 1900's there was a college at the top of the hill. My grandfather took classes at the college as a young man. It later became a theological seminary and then a high school for the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA).
Two blocks North of my house was College Avenue which T'd up with the road that lead to the original college building. About a three block bicycle ride North-West of my house was the Seventh Day Adventist Church. They would periodically have special events "Prophecy Seminars." I remember going to them as a child.
I also remember negotiating with my mother that I would go to our churches Vacation Bible School (VBS) if I could also go to the "VBS" down the road. Our SDA neighbors would take me. And if I could go with my Aunt to her VBS. God was calling to me and fairly loud.
I am treasurer for a Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sauk Rapids. At the Prophecy seminar this evening I was asked what I thought about it. I was surprised how much I remembered from my youth and my first Prophecy Seminars. How someway even back then I knew that God was calling me and I chose to listen.
