Do you know that old wives tale? About your palm itching and you're going to come into money. I was driving home from the airport after being in Las Vegas and my palm started itching so bad it almost burned. I laughed and thought maybe I would have gambled if it my hand would have burned this much on the way out there. I just thought to myself, "I'm going to have to remember this see what happens."
Well I couldn't believe my eyes. I looked at my stack of mail. One of the letters was from Stearns County Clerk. My first thought was, "I wonder if it's time for jury duty?" (not noticing that it was from the clerks office.) When I opened the letter I saw that there was a check for just under $18. Okay so I wasn't going to get rich off of that but its money that I had written off years ago.
When I lived up in the Sauk Rapids area I had storage unit that was broken into twice. The first time they found all of my stuff that had been stolen. The second time they found who did it but he had sold everything to pawn shops and the pawn shops had already sold my stuff. The police prosecuted the man and he went to jail on maybe it was prison I don't remember.
Years ago, I received a letter telling me that I would eventually receive the money when the court was able to collect it. Yea sure, how are they going to get money from a man who steals for drugs and who is now in prison. A few years ago, I tossed the letter away and had forgotten about it. So it was a good surprise to see the first check in the mail. I don't remember how much was due to me so maybe I'll continue to get little surprises over the next few months. I don't think it was more than a few hundred dollars but is goes to show you that when you least expect it, good things will happen.
