It is that time of year. The early vegetables are ready in the garden. Today I cut sugar lettuce and picked kohlrabi and radishes.

Dale and I share the garden with another friend. He planned his vacation at the wrong this year. His lettuce and radishes were ready to be picked and he won't be back for another week. So we got to enjoy a couple of meals from the garden.

Garden Fresh Lettuce |
For lunch I had fresh lettuce with tuna, cheddar cheese, avocado and cream cheese. A bit strange but good.

See the chunks that look like potatoes in the bacon grease? Those are actually kohlrabi cooked like American Fries. My supper was bacon, fried kohlrabi, and wilted lettuce, topped with cheddar cheese, avocado and sour cream. Again, strange but it tasted good.

Dale tops his wilted lettuce (lettuce cooked in hot bacon grease) with vinegar and sugar.
