Peirce Mansion Weddings

The Peirce Mansion is being renovated as they can afford it.  Two special rooms have been renovated one focusing on the groom and groomsmen and the other one focusing on the bride and bridesmaids.


Groom's Room

The groom's room has a very historical and masculine atmosphere including the clothing "tree".  It is smaller than the brides room.  After all, men don't take as much room to get ready, do they?

The significantly larger room for the bride has a beautiful chandelier, a comforting fireplace and just the right amount of pink and white.


Set off to the side by a window is a 1906 wedding dress and undergarments

 I love watching the "fashion" shows on TV.  The women in the olden days often times added hoops of varying sizes under their dresses giving the skirt a full, equal base.  Creating an exaggeration of the female shape by creating a larger than normal bottom.  2013 fashion does the opposite.  The concept is how can we make the oversized women of today look smaller?  We just are never happy are we?


Two turtle doves

 Painted on the ceiling during renovation is a pair of love birds carrying Cinderella's ribbons to add that final touch to her beautiful gown.


The Brides Basket

 Harold wasn't sure who bought the bride her basket but it used to be a tradition that the bride would be given a basket.  This basket is decorative glass in milk-white on the outside and brilliant orange on the inside.  Over time, the basket has been passed to the flower girl and it is not quite this delicate although the contents can be that delicate.


Ballroom

 The renovated ballroom is also rented out for events.  But because this is in a residential area everyone must be out by 10:00 PM.

 The odd shaped room off to the side was designed to hold a small orchestra that would play for the dances and parties.  They must have done a fair amount of entertaining to have a good sized ballroom that takes up over half of the third floor.
