Transom Windows

Thanks EJ for teaching me this term.  Technically transom windows are the windows above the door that let in extra lighting and sometimes air.  The side window in this picture is actually in a closet I think in this case these are also considered transom windows.

In many cases, transoms are strictly decorative. The home doesn't exactly need them, structurally. But they add an interesting design element don't they?
