Snug as a bug

Note: this was started about a week ago.  And yes! I miss being home by this time in the week.

I had to laugh when I looked across the room and saw Skyler (2 years old) curled up  on his puppy bed.

Mama, turn off the flash!
In the picture above, Skyler is sleeping in his 2nd puppy bed.  He drags the original puppy bed around like a blankie or stuffed toy. (Upside down beside him.)

Duchess' favorite pillow...

This cute little pilow was made for Isaac when he visits.  I have unusual pillows. Two are buckwheat hulls and one is a water pillow.  All difficult for a young child to use.  During one visit, we worked together to make a pilow just fo Isaac.  Well, Duchess found it and he must have smelled Isaac on it. Now she carts it all over the house and needs to use it when she takes her naps.

Country Cemetary

A wonderful place to play hide and seek for the two dobermans is the country cemetary.  Another favorite game is chase me. When I drove my errand and passed the turn off to the cemetary, I heard crying from the back seat.  When I was done and on the way back, I turned the corner.

This time I immediately heard an excited bark, "Yes! Yes! Let me out. I wanna run!" I thought I was going to go deaf.

My Jenny's new adventure

"Grandpa, can we go out and play?"

"Let me put my shoes on and we'll find a special place."

What do you mean you can't put your shoes on while I'm sitting here?
"Hey Grandma! I get to drive Grandpa's car. Cool."

But I really want to drive.... please?!

"Let Grandpa drive.  He has a special place he is going to take you."

"Oh, we're going to my favorite place!" Duchess yalped from the back seat as she did dobie turns in the back seat of the car.

The stripes of freshly cut alphalpa

Out on the low maintenance road Grandma and Grandpa walked while Duchess and My Jenny explored.

"Jenny, this way." Mama Duchess said.

Mother and Daugther explore together

"Hey look what I found!" Jenny yelled from beside the road.

So many more interesting things in the road ditch out here than in town.

Grandma stopped periodically offering the girls water. When they got back to the car, Jenny crawled into Grandma's arms and immediately fell asleep.

The effects of fresh air

Mama Duchess on the other hand continued to do dobie turns in the back seat watching for oncoming cars..
car..car..car..ooo BIG truck let me at it!

Puppy Kisses bring happiness

On our way home we stopped by Uncle Bill and Aunt Katies house for a short visit.  Katie hadn't met the new puppy yet.  It was love at first sight!

Katie made sure that My Jenny got plenty of nana kisses and My Jenny in turn shared puppy kisses. (The cats hid.)

Just plain adorable...

Dale was up and gone fishing early in the morning.  Before heading to work, I stopped by his place to let them out for a potty break. But as I walked in, My Jenny was laying in an odd place on the dog bed.  I wondered if they had been sleeping together on the bed.

After running outside for a couple of minutes,  they quickly settled back onto the bed together.  They are so adorable. I normally kennel the three month old puppy when I leave. But today I'l close off the doors to the other rooms and leave her out.

Her potty training has been going well. So with Dale's approval, today will be a test.

My kids play ruff

Mama, Duchess, lays down on the floor and growls, "I dare you! Come and get me!"
As  My Jenny gets close, she falls into mama's trap.
"Gra - ha-ha" Mama says with a toothy smile. "Now show me how well you protect"

My Jenny being held by Mama as they play "Ruff"
"I'm going to get you!" My Jenny squeaked out.  "Don't move or I'm gonna get you!?

Grrrr - Ruff- Ruff - Ruff
"Louder, My Jenny.  Show more teeth."  Mama demonstrated for My Jenny.
"I am mean.  Be afraid, very afraid!" My Jenny said trying to deepen her high pitched voice.

I am mean... very mean
"Yeah mama!  I did it!" My Jenny said then surprised mama with a tackle and a love bite on her ear.
My Jenny WINS!
"Good lesson My Jenny." Mama said as My Jenny backed off and continued to practice.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

The beggars were begging for cake and cool whip they both got cool whip on their noses and licked it off. They begged for more.  So we gave them some more cool whip on their noses and watched them lick it off. Tee-hee

Dog Toy

Dog Toy

As much as Dobermans chew through toys I needed to find a cheaper toy. So I made braided tug of war toys!

I purchased two kinds of fleece - a plain one and a bright colored.

Then I cut the fleece into 1.5 - 2 inch strips and tied one of each color together with a square knot (right over left, left over right; left over right, right over left) in about 1 inch off center. The knot process will leave the two sides equal.

Then take the right strand in your right hand and weave over the second, under the third, over the fourth. The second strand is now the first so take it and weave across like the last.

Continue until you are 4 - 6 inches from the bottom.  Tie two more square knots to tie off the bottom. Leave the last strips loose.
Tickle the dogs nose with the loose ends and let them play tug of war.
Sorry the dog pictures are blurry...but they were moving too fast for this poor phone.

My Jenny's first Playdate with Mavorick

"My Jenny let's play tug-a-war with monkey"  Mama Duchess said as she dangled the monkey in front of My Jenny.
"I'm gonna win!"
"Hey you two, I have an idea.  Let's go shopping then stop by Maverick's home to play with him. Does that sound good?" Grandma asked.
"Yeah! Play date! Let's go!" My Jenny jumped around with excitement.

Sharing puppy style.

"G-ma, that shopping is pretty tiring stuff."  My Jenny said as her head bobbed.
"I know, even your mama is sleeping after her pawdicure. Rest up.  You will need energy to play with Maverick."
"Yeahhhzzzzzzzz"

Shop 'till you drop.

"Hey.  I remember you.  What's on your ears?"
"I was going to ask you the same thing."
"This is my new G-ma & G-pa's place.  See I can go up these steps to go in." Maverick showed My Jenny and Duchess around.
Then they went outside for some playtime.
"Hey, Let's play dobie circles!" My Jenny said but Maverick had different ideas.
"Pounce time!" Maverick answered.
"Hey do you see mama?" Maverick said during a short break. "Look at her"
"Mama has a friend to play with too"  My Jenny said.  "They are having fun too!"
"Burr....it got cold outside.  It's fun to play inside too."
"Don't they look cute together?" Grandma said to everyone around.
"Pirate.  AAAArrrrgh"
"Roar"
"Wha-ha-ha.  Be afraid; be VERY afraid."
"Kids, settle down." Mama said as she stepped between them.
"I am monster, I will bite off your ears!" Maverick said in a scary voice.
Soon they heard Molly's high pitch yap. "Cut it out."
"Yes, you too My Jenny.  This is my place.  I am the Queen"
"I said STOP that!" Molly yipped to the larger but younger puppies.
That didn't stop them as they wrestled some more.
"Roar, I am monster"
"Aaargh! I shall bite you monster. Wha-ha-ha"

Time to run outside again!

"Catch me if you can!"
"Yippee!  Look at me run"
"A new game?  Hide and Seek.  I like it!" My Jenny said as she prepared to pounce.
On the next round it was Maverick's turn to pounce.
"I win!" My Jenny yelled.
"Time to go!  You have been playing so hard this afternoon" Grandma said.
"Oh do we have to?"
"Yes.  We can play more another day. Maybe next time we can meet with Maverick, Trejo and Cisco at the park by the lake just South of Watkins?"
"YEAH!" Maverick and My Jenny yelled together.
Barely around the corner from Maverick's place, My Jenny was sound asleep in Grandma's arm.  She slept soundly all the way home.
