A perfect hiding place

Do you have dogs in your house? You know that when you give him a bone every don't feel like chewing it right then, they hide it.

I bought a bag of raw hide bones for the dogs. When I got into the car I gave them each a bone. They began to chew a little bit to begin with and then they got distracted and drop them. Later, I reached down to throw some garbage away that I had sitting in the center console and to my surprise one of the dogs had hid their bone inside of Dale's french fry container.

It must have been Misty Blue because she was in the front seat and it was a place that Duchess couldn't see from the back seat.  Dobermans are such smart dogs; dirty but smart dogs. (I may never get the sand out of my center console. But I love those girls.)

Decisions, decisions

Each winter I plan for one or two summer projects. One is usually a small home improvement.  This year I was planning on adding a fence to the yard so that I can easily let the dogs out.  It is safer for them and less of a hassle for me.

Then I thought, "Why should I put up a fence to take it down in a couple of years when I put up a garage?"  For those that have been following along know that I've paid off my main house mortgage in December.  I have just under two years left on my other mortgage if I apply both payments together.

Somewhere in the back of my head, I was tossing around the idea of re-doing my roof this summer and in a couple of years when the house was paid off, I would put up a detached garage.

Now I am thinking that maybe it makes more sense to put up the garage this year along with shingling the house and putting up the fence. I need to present the project to the city planning commission and also to the bank.

Time will tell if do all of it this year or only part of it.

Do you chew gum on an airplane?

The cabin pressure in an airplane changes at take off.   But it changes more during decent. On a recent flight I was thirstier than normal.  I heard the water bottle pop with the air pressure change.
As disturbing as it was, it was also fascinating. I have always been told to chew gum. Evidently the chewing process  helps to readjust the air within  our body/head.
It is like twisting the top off from the water bottle which then allows the air inside the bottle to equal out. What was interesting and got me thinking was how much the bottle caved in. We have hard heads.

My first royalty check!

...for the book "The Man I Was" about a man with amnesia. It is not big but sometimes success comes one little step at a time.

The book came out just before Christmas.  So the check is for about a month of sales.   I will get paid royalties twice a year.  My next check will be in August.

The way it works is that stores can order.  They have 60 days to return.  Any thing that isn't returned, I get a royalty for.  I hope that it is because they are selling out and ordering more. Time will tell! I also get a royalty on any e - books.

Doberman snuggle time

My poor baby boo (Misty Blue). She was obviously having a lonely day. It took her about five minutes to get snuggled into the doggie bed so that she was comfortable.
She is such a cutie, most of the time.  But beware because she can also be mischievous.  More often than not, I need to search through the whole first level of the house to find my slippers. She even tried to drag my boots through the house.  For as mischievous as she can be, I love baby boo with all my heart! ♡

Laughing in the face of Winter!

I haven't heard the statistics yet but today was expected to be a near record low - low and low - Hi.  So in defiance of the cold, Dale shoveled out around the grill and we grilled steaks outside.

It was nice to have a steak off the grill with my lettuce and sour cream/avocado dressing.   A fabulous meal to end the weekend and give hope for the spring to come.

Eating low carb

I thought that I would give you an update.  For new readers, I am carb sensitive.  I have different dietary needs. My goal is 80% calories from fat, 20% calories from protein, with no more than 40 grams of carbs.

I just came back from a week of traveling for work. I am pleased with the results. I know that I ate more calories than when I was at home.  But I didn't gain any weight.  My morning sugar levels are hanging at an average of 120. When I test later in the day, it is perfect 101 high.
I have learned to order what I need even if it is not on the menu.  Sometimes it embarrasses the people that I am with but I tip well so it doesn't bother me.

On the road I ate half an omelet for breakfast and saved the other half for lunch.  It had mushrooms, spinach, bacon and cheddar cheese with avocado on the side. In the evening I had either chicken or beef with a salad. I had the kitchen make me a sour cream and avocado dressing. For snacks I had a serving of macadamia nuts. The hard part is filling in the extra fat in a fat free society.
