A gift meant to be passed down ....

When I was a young child, my Grandmother Stella Field gave me a special gift.  It was a bracelet and ring that had been given to her from her mother.  They belonged to Eva Mae Bell as a young child.

Eva Mae was born February 10, 1868 (that is 149 years ago this year.)  What we don't know for sure is if these belonged to Eva's mother or earlier generations.
Passing down the line
Since I don't have children of my own, I was very excited when my nephew and his wife were interesting in continuing the legacy.  This weekend, I passed the two pieces on to Ian's wife, Courtney.  The pieces actually fit her!  I guess that means it was meant to be.

They will keep them in the safe until their daughters are old enough to receive them as a gift.  As a child, I was allowed to wear these pieces for special occasions only.  I heard a news report recently that stated the younger generations are no longer interested in family heirlooms.  I am glad that is not the case with these pieces.
