Easter Tree

I think that I'm still a week early in bringing in the lilac branch for the Easter tree. But, we were outside with the trimmers and there is a section of mostly dead lilac.  Dale informed me that he was going to get rid of that 5" section of trunk.

This branch was the only major living branch coming out of the doomed stump.  Since I needed to cut a section for the Easter tree, I decided to save this piece.  It had a lot of twists and bends with sturdy branches.  This year I was able to put all of the eggs onto the tree.  Last year, I only about half of them.
Quilted Easter Egg
Many years ago my mother and I made Easter Eggs for the trees.  I made several "quilted" eggs.  They are made with large foam eggs  You cut a small section of cotton fabric and tuck the edges into the egg.

The smaller eggs were made with foam eggs covered in glue then carefully wrapping decorative Easter napkins around them.  These were most likely made in the late 70's or early 80's.  There are many options of creating a hanger for them.  We purchased narrow ribbon and wrapped around the eggs.  For some we tied bows for extra decoration.

It is a nice family project with the kids.   And they are decorations that will last for many years.  As I said these are over 30 years old.
