A couple of firsts

For my birthday, I purchased a new set of pans.  Dale has friends which have these pans and they rave about them. There is a deep sided frying pan.

There is also a square roasting pan that can be used in the oven or on top.  I used that pan for the first time today. I cooked up one of our ducks that was hit on the road last week.
Cooked Duck
The recipe that I found online was a simple rub of salt, pepper and paprika. After cooking it for an hour, the instructions say to pour 1/4 cup of melted butter over the top and cook for another 45 minutes. Then another 1/4 cup of butter and another 15 minutes. As decadent as that sounds, it also sounds like a pain to clean up the pan. Not! it wipes right out.
Duck with a side salad
I made us simple salads to go with out roast duck. I don't use salad dressing. Instead I use a small scoop of cottage cheese.
