Stretching the life of my love seat

On my to do list lately has been to either get my love seat re-upholstered, find a new love seat or create a cover for the seats.  I purchased this Lazy Boy recliner love seat when I lived in Wisconsin.  Probably just after moving into my house out there in the summer of 2000.  That means the love seat is about 15 years old.  The reclining mechanism still works very well and it is a very comfortable but the front edge of the cushion was getting thread bare. I have been looking for a similar love seat but none of the ones that I've found have the same kind of footrest.  They now have a foam spacer between the seat and the footrest instead of the heavy-duty wood style from 2000.

I stopped by Hancock Fabrics in St. Cloud and timing was perfect.  They were having a HUGE fabric sale.  I was able to purchase this heavy duty drapery fabric for $4.50 a yard.  With everything else going on, I asked my neighbor lady to hem the edges for me.  I am going to try just keeping them tucked in for now.  If that doesn't work, then I'll figure out a way to attach them.  But the seat cushions are physically connected to the framework so that would be very difficult.  As you can see, Sonjia likes my choice.
Sonjia approves and she looks so good on them!
