Cotton Pickin' .....

Cotton Plants at day 58
....maybe!  June 7th is day 58. The cotton plants cannot be planted outside until the ground is at 60 degrees Fahrenheit at 8 AM for 3 days in a row.  I started my seeds under grow lights in order to reach the 160 frost free days needed for the growing cycle. Purely by counting my cotton should be ready about September 17th.
Look at the healthy root system!
I have been working in Houston the last two weeks. The weather last weekend was too cold to consider even measuring the temperature. But it was a warm and humid week. Saturday morning it was around 63 degrees  (about 6 inches down). Sunday morning at 8 AM it was about 64 degrees.  I took a risk and made  an assumption that Friday morning was also above 60 degrees.
24 cotton plants
I have 24 plants to go into the ground. 4 to 5 of them are smaller plants in the same pot as a larger plant. I left the twins together and I planted the pots about 7 to 10 inches apart. The instructions said to water once a week from trenches.  I am a bit concerned that my ground maybe too moist and rich.
One step at a time and with great anticipation I will be watching my cotton plants.   Watch for more updates!
