He is Risen! ...so what does it mean to you?

We are sinners.  It doesn't matter how hard we try; we still sin.  There is a cost to turn our sin to righteousness.  That cost was paid by Jesus death on the cross.  He paid the price.  But he didn't stay in the grave. He conquered death to provide for us eternal life.  Our bodies will still wear out and we will die to this world but we are given hope in Christ Jesus that we too will be resurrected and join him in Heaven.

1. All men are lost

Romans 3:23

New International Version (NIV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 6:23

New International Version (NIV)
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[a] Christ Jesus our Lord.

2. Christ died for you

1 Peter 3:18

New International Version (NIV)
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

Romans 5:8

New International Version (NIV)
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

3. You must repent

Luke 13:3

New International Version (NIV)
I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

Acts 3:19

New International Version (NIV)
19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

4. You must believe

Romans 10:9-10

New International Version (NIV)
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

John 1:12

New International Version (NIV)
12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

5. Verses of assurance

John 5:24

New International Version (NIV)
24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

1 John 5:11-13

New International Version (NIV)
11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Concluding Affirmations

13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

6. Take a moment and pray to God
Have you ever said a prayer before?  They can be formal or casual.  It is just talking to God like you would talk to any other friend in your life.  Here is an example of a prayer that you could say, "Hello God, It's me _______.  I admit that I am a sinner and that you sent your son, Jesus, to die on the cross for my sins.  I ask for forgiveness of my sins and help to overcome them so that I don't fall back into my sinful life. I believe that Jesus Christ is your son and I would like to accept him as Lord of my Life. Thank you! (Amen)"

If you choose to pray this prayer or a prayer similar to this one, then congratulations! God has forgiven you and you are now a child of God.  Pick up his word, the Bible.  I would recommend starting with the book of Luke.  God will talk to you and help you with your life choices through his Holy Scripture, the Bible.
