The second coming of Jesus Christ!

I couldn't help but wonder as I looked at my photos of the sundogs if this is what it was going to look like when Jesus Christ returns.

Matthew 24:30

Matthew 24:30
New International Version (NIV)
30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth[a] will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.[b]

Can you see the cloud in the center of the photo?  Imagine with me, standing upon that cloud is the Son of God in all his radiance with his arms stretched out to the world.  His radiance so bright that it hides the details of his form as he shines like a brilliant diamond in the sky the cross reaching out to the east and west encompassing all of mankind under it's glow.  A beam that reaches down to earth and up to Heaven reconciling mankind to God once and forever more.  The jewels from the royal crown/halo of the King of Kings glitter like rainbows.

Is that what the return of Christ will look like?  I couldn't help but wonder as I was flipping through the photos today of the sundogs in the sky.  A sundog is when because of extreme cold the rays of the sun reflect off ice crystals in the sky to the sides of the sun.  Just like the way the rainbows arch, the sundogs will arch creating a circle around the sun.  It is most prominent in the morning and evening.

The sundog as bright as the sun
Sundogs in the sky are an indicator that colder weather is coming.  The photo below almost looks like there are two suns in the sky.  There was a house blocking the other   sundog but for some it must have looked like there were three suns rising from the horizon.  A little bit Sci-fi wouldn't you say?

Two suns rise
Warning: it is cold and more cold is on it's way.  It is rare to see the circle closed for a majority of the day.  It is a very beautiful spectacle and despite the fact that I know it usually means excessively frigid temperatures heading our way, I do enjoy the beauty.
