A Delectable Birthday Dinner

Bev's on the River
I normally take my birthday off.  But when the project requires me to be on the road I head out on the road and I will take Friday off instead.  My co-workers and I went to Bev's on the River in Sioux City, Iowa for my birthday dinner.

Industrial
Inside is a combination of modern industrial and artistic.  There were some black and white photos of the past and a few other items from history.  I wanted to take a photo of the dress in the entry but something stopped me.  Which is really strange for me.

Artistic
They had these beautiful stained glass panels that gave the feeling of the flowing river running down the center of the restaurant between the rows of booths.

Even the lights are an Industrial Style Art
Overhead the large round lights were held up by wires that gave an artistic view with a diffused lighting effect.

Menu's that light from behind
New to the restaurant were the menu's that had back lighting.  Mine wasn't charged properly the night before and one side already had the light out.  One of the guys at first thought it was a tablet.  He was ready to take his finger and run it across the top when he realized it was just a piece of thin high grade paper laying over a backlight glass. (Do you see at the bottom where the chef has signed the menu?)

Delicious Salad
The simple salad was colorful, well plated and full of favor. Stir fry wasn't on the menu but one of my co-workers who had eaten there before had eaten and enjoyed it.  So he asked the waitress if it was possible to order the stir fry.  It just goes to show, even if it isn't on the menu you can always try to order it.

Stir Fry
After all, you can't get something if you don't bother asking for it.  The cooked Salmon with Asparagus is NOT mine either.  I've never gotten the taste for those long spikes of green vegetable.

There were so many things to choose from but I decided to have the special of the evening; parmesan crusted chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes covered with parmesan Alfredo.

At the end of the meal, the waitress brought a complimentary Cream Brule for a special birthday dessert.  I tried to talk my co-workers into sharing it but they chose not to and I almost had to roll back to the hotel I was so full.

Crème Brule -Birthday Dessert

This was not the end of my birthday celebrations.  Life is too short not to celebrate each and every day!
