Garden Fresh

Last spring I insisted that we plant a small row of carrots.  I love garden fresh carrots.  They have a different taste to them.  It could be because they are so fresh or it could be because I have different soil than the large corporate fields.  (We may weed and till the garden frequently but we do NOT use any chemicals on it.)

Garden Fresh Vegetables
This week, I am cooking at my place and Dale is coming over for supper.  It has been nice to walk out to the garden over lunch, pick a handful of vegetables that are going to be mixed in for supper. Wednesday night I used the left over roast beef, some cabbage, garden fresh onion and carrots to make a beef stew.

Beef Stew
I make a unique beef stew using fluffy dumplings (made with Bisquick and milk) as a thickener.  It is always thicker when re-warmed.  Thursday night I made chicken with new potatoes (from a favorite vegetable stand), onions and carrots.  I was going to add zucchini and make corn on the cob but there looked like enough food without them. Don't look too long at the final photo; I am not responsible for drool ruining your keyboard or other electronic device.
