What a blessing! Today I saw a female Blue Jay. Earlier this year I saw a couple of darker/brighter males.

She was watching the other birds eat at the feeders. But she would not come over to the feeders. Instead, something spooked her and she flew away.

The wind has been blowing so hard this week. The pileated woodpecker sat the wrong way feeding and his little tuft of red feathers blew backwards like a bad hair day.

Dale purchased a new suet holder with a very large suet cake to go inside. Today when the pileated woodpecker visited he went straight to the new suet. He seemed very happy. If you look closely you can see how much of the cake he ate from the corner closest to us.
