A1C is a blood test that is done that is supposed to show your average blood sugar over a 3 month period. My doctor recommended that I start switching up when I take my sugar levels. I'm not sure why because my problem is overnight. I don't eat for 7-8 hours and my liver makes sugar because my hypoglycemia drops my sugar levels too low.
But to make her happy (and prove my point) I have been moving the testing times around. My average mid day is 98 and before supper and before bed is 106. I am not sure what it is going to take to prove to my doctor that this A1C measurement isn't going to help me figure out what is right/wrong.
The one thing that taking my sugar levels throughout the day had done has proven to me that the changes I've made in my diet are working well. I just need to figure out something to eat just before bed or in the middle of the night that will help me. I used to have a co-worker that got up at 3AM every night to eat. She couldn't make it through without. That sounds exhausting.
