I see the signs

..no parking, no passing ... (quote from the movie Always.) I had to wonder as I walk down hotel hallways. Why do they bother to put braille on the door signs?

How do the people who are blind know where to find the signs?

Why is there braille on all the signs except for the critical sign that tells you where to go?

On another note,  why do they put the sign inside the elevator that tells you to take the stairs in case of fire? By the time that I can read the sign, it is too late.
