The Foot of the Cross

Enter the gates, the symbolism begins with the colors: red/ the blood of the sacrifice (Jesus Redeemer), white/purity (the holy character of Jesus), blue is a symbol of Heaven (Jesus is the Son of God), and purple the color of kings (Jesus as the King of kings).  The opening faced the East towards the rising sun.

The brazen alter of burning sacrifice had four horns on the four corners.  The symbolism is that the final sacrifice is for everyone reaching out to the four corners of the world.

The laver...was for a ritual washing of the hands and sometimes the feet.  Before the priests were allowed to approach the sacred compartments or alter to offer a burnt offering to the Lord.

The lamb was often brought into the house as a pet from the time it was born until it was sacrificed to ensure that it was without blemish.  Likewise, don't we get to know Jesus personally before we accept the gift of salvation?  It is when I realized that he would have died for me if I was the only sinner in the world that my heart got involved and broke open allowing the holy spirit to reach me with mercy.  Were those feelings similar to the Father who had to take the lamb which had almost become the family pet into sacrifice for the sins of the family?

John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Our Heavenly Father, God, has provided the most perfect and blemish free lamb, Jesus.  He kept him close in Heaven until it was time for the sacrifice.  With a breaking heart, he offered him up as a sacrifice once and for all time for our sins.
